May is National Pet Month

Lighthouse Toyota
and the Florida East Coast Humane Society invite all pet lovers to
help celebrate National Pet Month in May by having their pets
micro-chipped. Micro-chipping a pet can help ensure her safe return home
if she is lost. It’s also a good way to prepare for hurricane season,
which begins in June. Pets can be lost or displaced in a disaster
situation and microchips provide a tool for rescue workers that can assist
them in reuniting pets with their families more quickly.
Lighthouse Toyota is prepared to help its customers obtain this lifesaving
device by providing a microchip gift certificate to each person that
purchases one of their vehicles in the month of May. The dealership will
also donate $10.00 to the Humane Society in honor of each person that
test-drives a vehicle this month to assist homeless animals at the
shelter.
The Humane Society shelters thousands of homeless animals annually and is
in need of more homes for some wonderful pets. “National Pet Month is a
great way to honor the contributions that our pets make to our lives and
to help those that are still in need of homes”, says Cindy Bishop,
Executive Director of the Florida East Coast Humane Society.
“Micro-chipping a pet or adopting a new one is a great way of showing you
care”.
Lighthouse Toyota has been a sponsor of the Humane Society’s microchip
program since its inception. “Our staff is pleased at the opportunity to
support homeless animals and the Humane Society’s programs as a way of
giving back to our loyal customers and supportive community here in St
Johns County,” states Jay Biggerstaff, General Manager. “Many of our
employees are pet owners and lovers, too”.
Gift certificates from Lighthouse Toyota can be redeemed at the Florida
East Coast Humane Society by appointment for existing pets or can be used
to reduce adoption fees for a new pet by $10.00.
